The Syriac Youth Union in Syria is formed by young people who work together to implement democratic values and concepts and fights for the acceptation of different ethnic groups. The Suryoyo (Chaldean-Aramean-Assyrian) youth aspire a democratic society which grants them individual human rights. The Syriac Youth Union played an essential role in and formed the basis of the Syriac Democratic Movement which works to represent young people in the civil society of a democratic Lebanon. The SYU Lebanon organizes youth camps, workshops, seminars and courses on civil society, democracy, community building and the rol of media in society.
The SYU in Syria has more than 200 volunteers and is active in four cities in the Al-Hassaka Governate. Furthermore, it has activities in more than 8 other cities including Aleppo and Homs. The Syriac Youth Union supports the Syriac Cross among others in the distribution of humanitarian aid.
